Manja Präkels & Der singende Tresen
Lesung mit musikalischer Begleitung
Manja Präkels, born in 1974 in Zehdenick/Mark, tells in her award-winning debut novel "Als ich mit Hitler Schnapskirschen aß" (When I ate schnapps cherries with Hitler) of the disappearance of the GDR in a small Brandenburg town idyll, the appearance of ghosts believed lost, of friendship and anger. Country life between lethargy and joie de vivre. Mimi and Oliver are neighbors and good friends, with the fall of the Wall everything changes. Oliver becomes a leader of marauding youth gangs under the battle name Hitler...
The reading is accompanied musically by the highly acclaimed Berlin band "Der singende Tresen", whose singer Manja Präkels is. They play post-punk, klezmer and chanson in their own way and tell marginal stories that don't happen on the sidelines - far away from any pop structures.
The reading will take place in collaboration with the Viktoriagarten bookshop.
